Resistance to change is often misunderstood. Educators are not typically resistant to improvement—they are resistant to being excluded from decisions that affect their classrooms.
When administrators involve teachers, instructional coaches, department chairs, and principals early in the planning process, something remarkable happens. Questions become solutions. Concerns become improvements. Ownership replaces compliance. Collaborative leadership is not slower leadership; it is leadership that produces lasting implementation because those doing the work helped design the work.
